Adding Architectural Features to Your Home

Pin It Unless you are fortunate to live in a historical home, anything built after the 1960s and 70s sorely lacks any quality architectural features. When we moved into our home ten years ago, it was very disheartening to go from a glorious historical home with amazing woodwork to a 1970s feature-less dwelling. Beadboard and chair rail added to the master bath. Read about more about our Beadboard project . Beadboard added to the back of the kitchen island. Beadboard wallpaper added to 1/2 bath in Pretty in Purple Trim moulding to top of cabinets gives them a polished finish. Ceiling medallions are inexpensive and a great way to add interest.   Don't get me wrong, I love my house but really miss all that beautiful detail and what's with the textured walls anyway? Seriously every room in our house has textured walls and ceilings. Not the popcorn cheesy kind mind you, it is 'quality' textured walls and I though...

Quick and Easy Guide to Stepping Stones...One Year Later

Pin It Many of you may remember my Quick and Easy Guide to Stepping Stones from last summer. If not, you can read more about that  here . While most of you liked the idea and planned to try it, there were a few realists out there who doubted how well they would hold up through the winter. Just between you and me, I was a little nervous myself. In fact, I was nervous enough that I did not continue making the stones last  summer. I wanted to see for myself if they would hold up during the winter. Same view. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they look fantastic! So much so, in fact, that I plan to add some new stones this  Spring! The grass, not so much. Getting past procrastination

Pin It I have been bitten. Bitten by the procrastination bug. It is a vicious disease once bitten and hard to overcome. It takes perseverance. And tenacity. And time. Getting a couple fresh coats of Heirloom White Spray Paint. This pot had two former lives. It began as a red vase, then was victim of a project gone wrong. But I did it! I bit the procrastination bug in the behind and finished another project. This project started about two years ago. Seriously.  On it's way to an old, vintage pottery look using leftover paints. So after sitting in my basement for a year and a half, then moving it up to my garage where I guess I thought if I had to look at it everyday I would be inspired to finish it! I walked past it everyday for about nine more months. Then, as my index finger was twitching with excitement at the prospect of spray painting something, I decided it was time to tackle this puppy and 'get 'er done.' After several layers of browns and g...
